Hill of Beath Hawthorn, Central Taxis East of Scotland League, Premier Division, Kiers Park, Saturday 23 November 2019
Bo’ness United have little time to ponder their first league defeat of the season at the hands of Blackburn United as they face a most difficult visit to Hill of Beath Hawthorn. Defensive lapses and missed chances cost them dear but they move on
The BUs beat the Haws only four weeks ago thanks to a single Brian Ritchie strike. A narrow win although Bo’ness played well on the day and deserved the victory. They will have to equal if not better that performance if they want to leave Kiers Park with anything on Saturday.
Since that defeat Hill of Beath beaten Musselburgh Athletic and Dundonald Bluebell in the league. They fired in six goals against their Fife rivals and were clearly firing on all cylinders. In other games the Haws claimed two Lowland League scalps, beating Cumbernauld Colts at home in the South of Scotland Cup after a penalty shootout, and won at Civil Service Strollers in the Football Nation Cup. They were due to play Dunfermline Athletic in the Fife Cup on Tuesday but Kiers Park was declared unplayable.
Bo’ness last visited Hill of Beath just over two years ago but were soundly beaten on the day. A Calum Adamson brace and goals from Sean Leishman, Lewis Elder and Greg Smith did the damage with Bo’ness only managing a single counter scored by Scott Sally.
Hill of Beath are third in the Table having played two games less and seven points behind Bo’ness. A win for the Fife side will bring them closer although the BUs want to increase the distance between the sides. Bo’ness are keen to get back to winning ways but know this will be a tough ask against a very good side, particularly as suspension and injury may take their toll on the squad. No matter what, the players are up for the game and any assistance the BU Faithful can give in getting behind the team right from the start will be very welcome.
