Match preview provided by JOHN SPOWART!

Bo’ness United start the second half of their East of Scotland Premier Division campaign with a trip to Ferguson Park, Rosewell to play Whitehill Welfare. This is the second visit of the season, the BUs winning a preseason friendly back in July.

Whitehill are currently bottom of the table, albeit with games in hand on the teams above them, but, despite their lowly position and the fact that Bo’ness have already beaten them this season, BU Manager Max Christie and the players are taking nothing for granted. The recent defeat at home to Blackburn United has shown that any team is capable of getting a victory on the day. Whitehill’s last win in the League was against Blackburn although they have lost their last three at Dunbar United, Crossgates Primrose, and at home to Tranent Juniors. That loss was only by a single goal and given they also beat Linlithgow Rose at Prestonfield in the Football Nation Cup Whitehill will be no pushovers.

Bo’ness last played Whitehill in a competitive game just over eight years ago, coming out on top in a Scottish Cup tie at Newtown Park. Stephen Tarditi scored in each half for the BUs but with just under fifteen minutes remaining Andrew Kidd pulled one back from the spot to make the final part of the game interesting. There will be a new face in the squad Kris Faulds signing from Sauchie Juniors. Welcome to Newtown Park Kris. Going in the opposite direction is Iain Syme returning to his former club. Iain signed for the BUs in the summer of 2018 and goes with our best wishes.

Last Saturday’s narrow victory over Camelon Juniors saw the BUs increase their points advantage ahead of the pack. A superb Ryan Stevenson goal gave Bo’ness a half time lead but just after the break a defensive error allowed Alan Docherty to bring Camelon level. Chris Donnelly fired in the winner for Bo’ness who now focus on getting a result in Rosewell. The players are determined to keep going and as usual look forward to the great support provided by the BU Faithfull.

See you all at Ferguson Park.
