Bo’ness United had a disappointing end to the season as they went down at Berwick Rangers finishing the Lowland League campaign in ninth position. Despite enjoying some good possession in the first minutes the BUs went behind early as the referee gave a handball decision against Mark McLuckie, allowing Greg Binnie to convert the resulting penalty. Bo’ness responded with a Roan Fitzpatrick shot that went narrowly wide but it was Berwick who scored again, Harry Wright shooting in from a few yards out. Before the break it was three for the home side as Bo’ness lost the ball in their own box and Caelan McCrone capitalised to fire home.

Ten minutes into the second half Bo’ness pulled one back with a superb free kick shot from Lewis Hodgkiss. Hodgkiss nearly scored a second but his angled shot was saved by Liam Campbell. The Berwick keeper also blocked one from Kieran Mitchell and Bo’ness looked more positive as they tried to reduce the leeway even further. In saying that Berwick were dangerous when they went forward creating a number of chances of their own. With nine minutes left they put the game beyond the BUs as the defence hesitated waiting for an offside decision that didn’t come and Greg Binnie slotted past the exposed Allan Fleming.

In fairness to Bo’ness they kept going and were rewarded with a goal coming from a through ball that bounced over Liam Campbell’s head leaving Kieran Mitchell with the simplest task of putting into the empty net.
