Bo’ness United earned their first Lowland League point in over a month and in a close game against Celtic B the BUs might have achieved the win, although the draw was probably a fair result.

Celtic B started well enjoying the early possession, with Bo’ness playing on the break as Kieran Mitchell shot just wide of the goal. Celtic also went close but after further opportunities at either end Bo’ness took the lead as Kieran Mitchell finished a good move, firing home inside the box.

In the second half BU keeper Allan Fleming made a point blank save to keep Celtic out and again there were openings at either end of the pitch. With less than thirty minutes remaining Celtic did equalise thanks to a great individual Rhys Dargie effort, cutting in from the right before curling a shot that beat Allan Fleming just inside the far post. Four minutes later Bo’ness regained the lead from the spot, Roan Fitzpatrick downed in the box and Kieran Mitchell converting the resulting penalty. Celtic tried to get back, Allan Fleming getting down to save at the feet of a Celtic forward but with ten minutes left on the clock he was unlucky to concede a Samuel Isiguzo shot from the edge of the box being deflected past him.

With neither side able to get a winner the points were shared and Bo’ness now look forward to next week’s visit to Civil Service Strollers where a first ever win at Christie Gillies Park is their aim.
