Bo’ness United completed a miserable February losing to Gretna 2008, their first ever defeat against the border side. As against Hearts B the previous week the BUs had most of the possession but were unable to capitalise and you can’t win games if you don’t score.

There were chances at either end early on, Kieran Mitchell going close for the BUs
while Iain Anderson shot just wide for Gretna. Bo’ness had other efforts on goal but the game was goalless at the break.

Five minutes into the second half Gretna got themselves ahead as Kyan Gunn gathered in the Bo’ness box before firing past keeper Allan Fleming. The goal gave the home side confidence and they pushed forward looking for a second. Bo’ness weathered the storm and got to grips once more and went looking to get an equaliser. Lucas Fyfe saw two shots on goal saved while Kieran Mitchell had another effort that just missed the target. Into time added on and Billy Mortimer was unlucky as his backward header was just over. That was the last of the action and this result sees Bo’ness drop another place in the table knowing they must turn things around to avoid descending even further.
