BO’NESS UNITED MATCH SUMMARY SEASON 2025/2026
Date – Friday 21 November 2025
Competition – Park’s Motor Group Lowland League
Cumbernauld Colts 3
(Jack 7, Fernie 33, Farquhar 71)
Bo’ness United 1
(Brown 34)
Bo’ness United left the Broadwood Stadium empty handed as once again they were unable to get the better of Cumbernauld Colts on their own patch. The home side started well, going ahead in just over five minutes when the BUs failed to clear their lines allowing Joshua Jack to fire home from just inside the box.
The BUs worked themselves back into the game with efforts from Ryan Schiavone and Tom Grant missing the target while at the other end Patrick Moy headed over the BU bar. Cumbernauld had a shout for a penalty when Abraham Osemeke went down in the box but there was no award though just after the half hour they did get a second goal when Aiden McLaughlin’s cross found Adam Fernie beyond the far post and Fernie controlled before angling a shot into the opposite corner of the net. Right away Bo’ness responded with a goal of their own, Shaun Brown shooting home from the edge of the box.
After the break a determined Bo’ness set about getting back at their opponents, the play now concentrating in the Cumbernauld half of the pitch. Unfortunately the BUs couldn’t take advantage of their superior possession, unable to penetrate the Cumbernauld defence and had to be mindful at the back as the home side looked dangerous on the break. Bo’ness were left to regret their inability to score as a defensive error saw Joshua Farquhar pounce on a short pass back to slide the ball beyond BU keeper Matthew Wallace. Bo’ness tried to get back but were unable to make an impression up front while the defence were kept busy looking to prevent any further incursions.
There was no further scoring and it proved a disappointing Friday night under the lights. Bo’ness now have a free week followed by the visit of Berwick Rangers on the first Saturday in December.
