BO’NESS UNITED MATCH SUMMARY SEASON 2025/2026

Date – Saturday 18 October 2025
Competition – Park’s Motor Group Lowland League

Celtic B 1
(Hale 63)

Bo’ness United 3
(Grant 12 42, Mitchell 50)

Bo’ness United achieved a first ever win at Celtic B in what was a thoroughly deserved victory as the players stuck to the game plan designed to counter the speed and skills of the young full time professionals.

There was early action at either end, BU keeper Matthew Wallace saving from Conor Daly while Kieran Mitchell saw his effort on goal blocked by the Celtic defence. Just after ten minutes Bo’ness took the lead as Aidan Rice cleared only as far as Tom Grant who took advantage, stepping forward before firing past the Celtic B keeper. Bo’ness continued to push forward, playing some great football creating chances to go further ahead. Celtic’s best opportunity came as Hayden Boreland connected with a corner but his header went wide of the target. Just before the break Bo’ness scored a second from a free kick ten yards in on the bye line, Tom Grant curling a shot into the far corner of the net.

Five minutes into the second half Bo’ness made it three with Shaun Brown winning the ball on the halfway line before releasing Kieran Mitchell to dash forward shooting low past Aidan Rice. Celtic responded with some efforts that came close and with just under thirty minutes did pull one back. Dan Irving looked to have been fouled near the corner flag but the referee saw no offence allowing the ball to be played into the path of Finlay Hale who hit a fabulous shot from distance, the effort flashing into the top corner of the Bo’ness net. This might have been the point where Bo’ness panicked but they continued to defend resolutely while causing Celtic to be on their toes at the back.

After the Clydebank defeat on Tuesday the travelling BU Faithful were delighted to see this turnaround against Celtic B and hope for more to come in future weeks.
