Bo’ness United were on the wrong end of a goal fest with seven goals scored though unfortunately only two of them for the home side. Both keepers were called into action in the early minutes before Bo’ness missed an opportunity, Freddie Rowe shooting over the Clydebank bar. As happens only a minute later the Bankies went ahead, Dean Cairns firing home from the edge of the box and shortly after Bo’ness were two behind Ali El-Zubaidi heading into his own net. After a bright start the BU players were stunned and things got worse, a mistake in the BU defence allowing Keir Samson to run through for a third, while just before the break Neil McLauchlin scored number four for Clydebank.
Bo’ness went on the offensive at the start of the second half getting in a number of shots on the Bankies goal but yet again they conceded at the other end, Nicky Low connecting with a cut back to hit home from close in. Things were looking ominous but all credit to Bo’ness as the players stuck to the task and were rewarded as Kieran Mitchell ran onto a Freddie Rowe pass to shoot low into the far corner of the net. Soon after a good BU move finished with Tom Grant firing past Owen Stott. Bo’ness tried but were unable to reduce the leeway further and the game finished with the management and players left with a lot to consider after this significant defeat. Things don’t get any easier as Bo’ness visit the Albert Bartlett Stadium in Airdrie on Saturday and have yet to record a victory against Celtic B in their adopted home.
