BO’NESS UNITED MATCH SUMMARY SEASON 2025/2026

Date – Saturday 30 August 2025

Competition – Park’s Motor Group Lowland League

Bo’ness United 5
(Mitchell 10 60, Fitzpatrick 37 68, Armstrong 45)

Albion Rovers 2
(Hunter 51, Bowie 74)

Bo’ness United put on probably their best footballing display of the season as they defeated Albion Rovers though there will be disappointment at the two avoidable goals conceded.

After the initial skirmishes Bo’ness went ahead in ten minutes, Kieran Mitchell rising at the near post to head in from Roan Fitzpatrick’s cross. Tyler Denholm almost got Rovers back with his shot that just cleared the post although just after Tom Grant just missed the target at the other end. Albion Rovers enjoyed a period of pressure though were unable to capitalise and it was the BUs who scored next, a Tom Grant corner bundled in by Roan Fitzpatrick. Just on the whistle Bo’ness made it three, a Roan Fitzpatrick corner headed in at the far post by a delighted Jordan Armstrong.

Into the second half and right away Kieran Mitchell had a shot saved by Albion keeper Alfie Halliwell but the next goal was for the visitors, a partially cleared corner only going as far as the edge of the box, volleyed into the net by Daniel Hunter. The game then took a turn as Albion Rovers were reduced to ten men when Anthony Garth was shown his second yellow card of the game. Bo’ness took advantage of the situation and regained their three goal lead, a Kieran Mitchell run and shot blocked by the Rovers keeper before Mitchell followed up to fire home the rebound from an acute angle. It was soon to become five for Bo’ness with a Roan Mitchell run, finished off with the ball being slotted home.

All credit to Albion Rovers who managed to reduce the leeway once more from a free kick cross that the BU defence were unable to deal with, allowing Euan Bowie to score from close in. That was the end of the scoring despite chances created at each end and Bo’ness finished happy with the outcome and now prepare for a difficult week, visiting Clydebank on Tuesday and Linlithgow Rose the following Saturday.
