Bo’ness United gained a hard earned draw at Albion Rovers, the point won largely due to an impressive defensive display that kept the Rovers at bay. Throughout the game the BUs struggled to keep the ball but whether a tackle, a block or an interception, they got their bodies in the way to prevent Albion Rovers scoring.

Alexander McCaw saw a shot go over the Bo’ness bar while keeper Liam Campbell saved from Max Ross, and at the other end Ryan Schiavone had a header from a Lucas Stenhouse free kick cross deflected for a corner. The home side were enjoying the lion’s share of the possession during the first half and this continued into the second half with Bo’ness playing on the break.

A careless pass back might have cost Albion Rovers dear and although Ryan Schiavone intercepted the defender was able to usher the ball to safety. Bo’ness came close to scoring late on with a deflected Lucas Stenhouse shot looking to creep in at the post but the ball was cleared off the line. Into time added on and Peter Mendy wriggled through on goal and only a great tackle from Lewis Duffy stopped the Rovers substitute pulling the trigger.

A mixed night for Bo’ness in that they created little with the ball but were defensively sound and every player applied themselves to win a point on the road. However, the BUs have dropped a place in the table and now face two tough away matches in the coming week at Broomhill and Civil Service Strollers.
