Bo’ness United’s penultimate preseason friendly resulted in an eventual comprehensive win against East of Scotland Division two side Armadale Thistle. The first half was a tight affair as the sides exchanged blows but it was Bo’ness who hit home with two strikes by Fin Malcolm, his first winning the ball at the edge of the box before shooting low past ex BU keeper Andy Murphy. The second saw the striker complete a good BU move again winning the ball at the edge of the box before sliding past the advancing Murphy.
Into the second half Bo’ness got a third this time Malcolm the provider sending Ryan Porteous down the left his low angled shot too powerful for Murphy to keep out. Armadale pulled one back as BU substitute keeper Liam Campbell was unable to hold a shot from Aaron Ramage allowing the same player to follow up to net the rebound. Any thoughts of a comeback were quickly dashed as Ryan Porteous scored his second receiving a pass from Tom Grant then turning in the box to smash a a shot into the top opposite corner of the net. The BUs completed the scoring when Kieran Mitchell won the race to reach a through ball dinking past the Dale keeper at edge of the box.
A good win with some great football on show but on Saturday it’s the third clash with a top West of Scotland side, this time Darvel away. Bo’ness want to improve on the last two showings where they lost at home to both Clydebank and Pollok
