Bo’ness United experienced another difficult Saturday afternoon, facing up to their second West of Scotland Premier League sides, this time in the form of Pollok. As last weekend against Clydebank the BUs were tested in all areas of the park and although they probably competed more effectively on this occasion they were again on the wrong end of the result.

It was a shaky start for Bo’ness, being put under early pressure leading to the loss of a goal in ten minutes. A through ball found Stephen Docherty and his pass inside was gratefully received by Adam Forde, given the simple task of knocking over the line. Recovering their composure Bo’ness finally started to play a bit. Pollok keeper Ryan Truesdale had to look lively to clear a good Ryan Stevenson cross and Kieran Mitchell won the ball in the box only to see his angled shot come off the Pollok upright. Unfortunately for Bo’ness they were unable to make the breakthrough and just on the break Pollok doubled their lead as the ball fell to Jay Nelson at the edge of the box and his chip found the top corner of the Bo’ness net.

In the second half both sides created chances with the BUs best effort a Fin Malcolm shot diverted for a corner by substitute keeper Ben Fry. At the other end Pollok also had chances and with just under fifteen minutes remaining extended their lead, Ciaran McPhie converting from the spot after going to ground from a Michael Travis challenge. Near the end the BUs had a couple of efforts on goal but were unable to get on the scoresheet.
