After a good run out and result on Saturday in front of fans for the 1st time in over a year once again the fans are back for this friendly match against a tough opponent.
Many will remember the trips to Tranent and the visits of them to Newtown Park from the Junior days, and more recently the EOS league days where the matches were always hard fought and tough with plenty goals.

This being a friendly both teams will be looking to try out new things and get their squad in shape for the season which starts in just over a weeks time on July 17th.

Into the 1st half and the home side got us underway attacking the goal towards Kinneil School as the evening became rather dreich and the rain got heavier. A good ball over the top almost carved an opportunity for the home side but play was stopped for offside. At the other end a routine cross was easily dealt with. Locke did well for the BU down the right putting a good cross in and moment later he was involved again as the home side started to have the better of the opening exchanges. As the ball came over the visitors box again from Locke on the right a push in the area saw an appeal for a penalty which was waved away by the referee. Miller was set free through the centre with a decent ball over the top only to have gone just too early and be caught offside. A free kick from distance was curled over the bar from Tranent and another shortly after was played into the box but easily headed clear. A long diagonal ball from left to right had the home side on the front foot again and after some good play across the park a decent cross was sent low over the box, the shot that followed was scuffed and ended up an easy box. The home side were playing the long ball well at times almost getting in behind the visiting defence and as the half drew to a close it was in fact Tranent that had the final opportunity a clash between Murphy and Mc Cormack while trying to clear had McCormack on the ground inside the area while the visitors played on and a shot was deflected for a corner. That was to be the last of the 1st half.

Into the 2nd half and a double change before it got started for the BU saw Stevenson & Grant replace Trialist A and Comrie. From kick off Tranent played the ball out wide but good defending stopped a cross making it to the box and at the other end Miller had a low drive saved by the costing keeper low to his right. A really good ball was played across the box from Tranent but no one managed to get on the end of it and the ball went for a throw on the far side. A 3rd change from BU manager Max Christie saw J. McCormack replaced by Cunningham. Locke made a good run into the box and only the visitors keeper stopped his shot come cross from either going in or leaving a tap in for Miller at the back post. At the other end a free kick from wide right was sent over the box but Murphy made a routine catch. The home side introduced Trialist B to the action and shortly after Anderson replaced Nick Locke. Trialist B thundered a shot off the crossbar before a minute later a good ball from Cunningham found Anderson who lashed a spectacular shot past a help less Tranent keeper BU 1 - 0 Tranent. A good block just inside the box prevented any equaliser for the visitors and as the game drew to a close Anderson cut inside and had a shot blocked from the edge of the box.
Another good run out for the BU and a 1-0 win to keep the confidence going aswell. A shot from distance went low last the left hand post for the home side and that was to be the last action as the referee blew for full time moments later.
