Match Preview 2020 2021
BSC Glasgow, Lowland League, Newtown Park, Wednesday 11 November 2020
The Bo’ness United players gave gaffer, Max Christie an ideal birthday present on Saturday, winning three points from visitors Berwick Rangers while once again displaying great resilience in achieving the result. The day was also notable for Devon Jacobs, making appearance number one hundred for the club.
A first half penalty conversion by Ryan Stevenson put Bo’ness ahead against their Northumberland guests and, with thirty minutes remaining, a great move finished off by a cool strike from Kieran Anderson doubled the lead. Thirteen minutes before the end a goal from substitute Dan Purves gave Berwick some hope but Bo’ness stuck to the task to achieve the win.
Wednesday night sees another home game, again a tough encounter expected, as BSC Glasgow make their first visit to Newtown Park. BSC are a top team currently second in the Lowland League table, a point ahead of the BUs, but having played a game more. Like Bo’ness, BSC remain undefeated, enjoying a home victory against The Spartans on Saturday. Last season BSC finished fourth in the Covid curtailed season but, having games in hand to East Stirlingshire just above them, were likely third place candidates had the campaign been able to conclude.
Bo’ness met BSC in last season’s South of Scotland Cup more than matching the team then one tier above them. There were no goals in regular time but BSC scored twice in the first half of extra time through Declan Hughes and Ross Lindsay. Mark Mooney’s strike for Bo’ness came just before the end but was just too late for a comeback.
Founded in 2014, BSC were born out of Broomhill Sports Club from Broomhill in Glasgow. They initially ground shared with Junior side Maryhill but have spent the last few years playing out of Alloa’s Recreation Park although hope to resettle back in Glasgow sometime in the future. They won the South of Scotland Cup in their first season and have also been League Cup winners and runners up in the Lowland League.
Again, no fans are allowed in the ground but once again they can watch the game, filmed by Sanctus Media, access to the live stream via Fanbase at www.fanbaseclub.com. Tickets are purchased through the site, where registration is required, and the link to watch the match is emailed prior to kick off. The advice is to buy your ticket early to receive your link in ample time. The coverage provided by Sanctus Media is excellent with the use of multi cameras following the action completely.
Bo’ness are finding their way in this first season in the Lowland League but already know there are no easy games to be had. BSC provide formidable opponents and again Bo’ness must be at their best to achieve a positive result.
