Match Preview 2018 2019
Heriot - Watt University, King Cup Round 3, Riccarton Campus, Saturday 23 March 2019
Another new venue beckons for Bo’ness United as they visit the Riccarton Campus to play Heriot-Watt University. The third round King Cup tie is also the first meeting between the sides and it will be an interesting game on the artificial surface.
Heriot-Watt have lost their last four league matches although three of them by just the odd goal. They narrowly lost to Jeanfield Swifts in their last two fixtures. Their last league win was at bottom club Ormiston although they also won at Burntisland in the last round of this tournament. The students are unlikely to win a top league place for next season with only three games to play and five points behind current fifth place Preston Athletic.
Bo’ness are on a five game winning streak and Manager Max Christie wants to continue with his one hundred percent record. One of these victories was the home win against Tynecastle in the last round of this cup, Fraser Keast and Ryan Stevenson scoring the two goals without reply. In the last game it took until the last kick of the ball for the BUs to get the points against Sauchie Juniors, Craig Comrie scoring his first BU goal against his former side. The game showed that Bo’ness keep going until the end and the determination evident over the last few weeks is likely to be required again at the weekend.
This is a game Bo’ness should win but nothing is taken for granted, knowing only hard work can achieve the desired result. A different venue for the BU Faithful to visit and hopefully they will be there in numbers to enjoy a good day out and a result to send them home happy.
