Clinical BU’s

MATCH REPORT KINDLY SUPPLIED BY BRYAN COPELAND.

With a convincing home win last week in his 1st game in charge Max Christie along with the support would be looking for more of the same this week as bottom of the table and win less Eyemouth visit Newtown Park for today’s league match who the BU managed 8 against away from home earlier in the season.

Into today’s game then and it was taken in by a decent crowd on dry but slightly windy day with the BU kicking against it towards the Kinneil School end in the 1st half. With reports coming that some Eyemouth players left after the thumping at Dundonald last week meaning they just had a team for today and no more the BU as expected dominated possession without creating much other than a shot that came off the post in the 1st 15 minutes. The break through finally came on 16 minutes with a corner swung into the visitors box, Campbell got his head on it and as it looked to be a simple catch for the keeper the ball came off a visiting body and landed in the net. BU 1 - 0 Eyemouth. Just a few minutes later and it was 2-0 this time a ball inside the box found the Captain Chris Donnelly who sweetly struck the ball low into net. BU 2 - 0 Eyemouth. Forward came the home side again on 24 minutes Donelly cutting inside and trying to place the ball in the far corner only for it to go just wide. Yet another shot on goal from the home side closely followed and it stung the hands of the visiting keeper as he made a good save. With the visiting team barely over the half way line at all eventually Murphy in the BU goal got a touch of the ball on 33 minutes as he has to take the ball out the air when it was played long from half way. The home sure broke forward quickly and got goal number 3 this time Prentice with the final shot. 34 minutes played BU 3 - 0 Eyemouth. With 7 minutes of the 1st half remaining the usual happened for the BU frustration the home support as yet again we can’t seem to keep a clean sheet forward came the visitors and after an initial great save from Murphy putting the ball onto the post it was booted clear for a throw in. A long throw into the box wasn’t defended and a looping header saw the ball hit the net for 3-1. The home side were keen to make amends and as the birthing keeper spilled a save the ball became a bag a tell in the box with no one looking to shoot initially and finally a shot went wide. 2 minutes later and Marty Wright had the 3 goal lead restored for the home side with a decent finish. BU 4 - 1 Eyemouth. Th final minute before half time saw Captain Dougie bag a 2nd goal as he met a cross at the back post and knocked the ball into the waiting net. Half time BU 5 - 1 Eyemouth.

Into the 2nd half and within minutes the home side had the ball in the net good quick play down the left saw the ball played in to Wright who stretched and finished well but as the ball went past the keeper the linesman put his flag up for offside. Minutes later it was goal however and also a Hat trick for Captain Dougie. A corner was swung over from the left and Donnelly rose well to absolutely bullet a header into the net from around 6 yards. Pretty much right from the visitors kick off the home side win the ball back and forward they came again, Stevenson the man on the end of the cross ball this time calmly slotting it under the keeper to make it BU 7 - 1 Eyemouth. Things weren’t getting any better for the visitors as the home side dominated and now 19 minutes into the half Ross Campbell got on the score sheet with a header from very close range at the back post following a sublime ball from Nicky Prentice. BU 8 - 1 Eyemouth. Just a minute later and in came the 9th goal for the BU Stevenson with his 2nd of the game this time a simple tap in. 22 minutes in and BU boss Max Christie made a double change as Gemmil and Wright went off, replaced by Morgan and Jacobs. Now 23 minutes played and double figures came for the home side in some style as Prentice done absolutely brilliant to play the ball and finish low into the net. BU 10 - 1 Eyemouth. Almost more despair for the visitors as Stevenson had a good shot from just outside the box the visiting keeper done really well to tip the ball round his post and away for a corner. In came the corner and another shot had to be saved by the home keeper before the ball eventually went for a throw in on the left. A 2nd hat trick of the afternoon came this time for Stevenson as he rose well to send a fantastic header into the corner beating the on on coming defender and keeper. BU 11-1 Eyemouth 1. 15 minutes remaining and it was 12-1 substitute Morgan fancying some goal scoring action as he drilled a shot low under the visiting keeper. Only a minute past when the 13th came as it appeared all to easy today with good passes flowing all over the place and the 2nd substitute now in the goal as Jacobs slotted home from close range. The final sub came from BU manager Christie with 11 minutes of the match remaining McMullan was replaced by Syme. Earlier sub Jacobs was on the score sheet again with 9 minutes left as he made it 14-1. Captain Chris Donnelly almost got himself a 4th goal as he stretched to get up to a header but with no power on it the visiting defence cleared easily. The 15th goal for the home side then came with a minute of regulation time remaining as another hat trick emerged this time for Prentice and it was done in style as he caught a sweet stroke from inside the box high into the net with plenty of power behind it. As the home side came forward again the lineman put his flag up before the ball was sent goal wards. More defending from the visitors sent the ball away for a corner which was swung in and cleared for another on the opposite side. Into added time and Jacobs done well down the left and got a cross in that was cleared as far as Morgan who had a go from distance but the ball was rising all the time and went over the visiting keepers bar. Deep into stoppage time and Prentice had the last shot of the game as a high powered strike was well blocked. On a record breaking day for the BU where the highest score ever was achieved the match ended BU 15 - 1 Eyemouth.
