Second Half To Forget For BU's

Report kindly supplied by BRYAN COPELAND.

After a good performance and win against a good Dundonald side at home last week the BU go on the road full of confidence for this league match today, the 3rd visit to Tranent this season.
Into the game and as always a good travelling support was there to support the team. As both sides tried to assert themselves it was a frantic start that saw the home side have a shot rebound off the bar followed by a quick counter attack from the visitors that ended in a Marty Wright shot saved by the home keeper. The visitors got another chance from the resulting corner this time the ball into the box fell to Wright who again was denied by the home keeper. The ball then broke to Comrie on the edge of the box and his volley that looked on target was blocked by the home defence. On 17 mins the Tranent keeper was called into action as Wright again had a shot on target saved by the home keeper. On the 25 minute mark other than the home side hitting the bar early on the visitors looked to be in control of the game so far but the score line still remained 0-0. The home side came forward on the half hour and initially the BU defence done well only for Murphy in the BU goal to be sold short by Syme, he was quick off his line however to clear any danger however. On 32 minutes the home side were awarded a free kick near the centre of the goal around 25 yards out, Ian Black stepped up to strike it but the ball went well over the visitors cross bar. The break was now on for the BU but hoping for a corner the ball trundled away for a goal kick as the game now started to settle down a bit and both teams enjoyed a bit of possession. 39 minutes in and it was the visitors on the attack again with Wright having a shot wide of the post however the referee had blew for a free kick to Tranent as the ball was struck. McKenzie then done well to get a cross over the face of goal only for it to be cleared before any real danger ensued and the corner that followed came to nothing. With little more action and just possession for both teams the 1st half ended Tranent 0 - 0 BU.
Into the 2nd half and after a start much the same as the 1st half ended on 6 minutes the breakthrough came. Unfortunately for the visiting BU it was for the home side, Tranent 1 - 0 BU. As the visitors tried to get back into the game it was the home side again looking likely with a ball flashed across the box closely followed by another that Murphy in the BU goal had to deal with. 19 minutes in and it was the home side celebrating again as the ball hit the back of the net for 2-0 again the BU paying the price for being the better side 1st half but not scoring. A chance for the visitors then came with a free kick swung into the box, Hunter rose up to get his head on it but there was no trouble for the home keeper. Forward came the home side again and from the left of the box a decent shot was struck under Murphy in the BU goal for 3-0 and the game looked well beyond doubt for the home side. Things went from bad worse for the BU as they now seemed to self destruct and soon yet more bad news as Hunter was shown a red card for a rash tackle. The free kick that followed thankfully came to nothing and as the visitors got forward the home keeper only had to pluck the ball easily out the air. Forward came the home side and piled more misery on the visitors as the ball hit the net for 4-0 with now 9 minutes remaining. BU manager Kegs made a substitution with 7 minutes remaining as Daramola replaced Wright although it all seemed too little to late. 4 minutes of misery for the visiting BU to go and with little more action other than a Tranent shot from outside the box curling over the bar on 90 minutes that looked to be all to report for this game. Tranent however had other ideas and 2 minutes into added time a sublime effort found the net to compound the BU misery and the best goal of the game so far made it 5-0 Tranent.
Overall a good 1st half from the visitors where they failed to take any chances made it a very disappointing day as we self destructed in the 2nd half.
