Match Preview 2018 2019
Tynecastle, Central Taxis East of Scotland League Conference B, Meggetland Park, Saturday 12 January 2019
Bo’ness United will experience another unfamiliar venue this weekend as they visit Meggetland to play Tynecastle. Meggetland is the home of Boroughmuir Rugby Club and this is Tynecastle’s first season using this ground having moved from Saughton Enclosure.
The sides met earlier in the season at Newtown where Bo’ness lost and early goal scored by Cameron Liddell before going on a second half blitz that included a Marty Wright brace and goals from Michael McMullin, Brian Morgan and Ross Campbell. Ian Moffat scored a late consolation for the visitors.
Tynecastle have struggled most of this season sitting fourth from bottom of the table with only three wins from fifteen games. Their last victory was in October winning all the points at Burntisland Shipyard. Their last point was a draw versus Dunipace in early December but since have lost at both Dunipace and Lothian Thistle.
Bo’ness worked off the Christmas excesses with a good win at Dunipace last week, the result seeing them move to third in the table. At half time the teams were all square Nicky Prentice putting the BUs ahead before Craig Hughes equalised just before the whistle. Goals from Marty Wright and Tiwi Daramola had Bo’ness looking comfortable but carelessness at the back allowed Greg McPherson in to give the hosts hope of a fightback. However that only lasted a few minutes and a rare goal from Andy Shirra won it for Bo’ness, Chris Donnelly making sure just before the end.
This is a game where Bo’ness are odds on favourites to win but the players know they have to show the right attitude to secure the points. Ross Campbell has completed his two match suspension but Brian Morgan has one game to serve.
There is no doubt manager Steven Kerrigan will ensure the players know what they have to do on the day to achieve the victory and as usual the vocal support from the BU Faithfull will give them that extra encouragement.
