Sauchie Juniors, Central Taxis East of Scotland League Conference B, Beechwood Park, Saturday 08 December 2018

It’s back to League business for Bo’ness United with a visit to Sauchie Juniors where both sides are looking to collect all the points. Bo’ness made the trip over the Clackmannanshire Bridge at the beginning of last season when former BU Darren Cummings came off the bench to get a last minute winner for the home side. The return game came later in the campaign with the teams sharing four goals. Willie Wells put Sauchie ahead in the first half but goals from Ryan Millar and Ross Campbell gave Bo’ness the advantage until Brian Morgan equalised for the visitors before the end. Morgan is now at Bo’ness while Millar returned to Sauchie at the beginning of this season. Iain Syme and Craig Comrie also played at Sauchie all three wearing the red jerseys at Newtown Park in the drawn game. Cummings is still at Sauchie as is Craig Donaldson another former BU who moved to Beechwood from Camelon Juniors.

Sauchie drew against Dalkeith last week beating Dundonald two weeks before both game at Beechwood Park. Sauchie are third in a table where Bonnyrigg Rose have opened up a sizeable gap at the top but only seven points separate Dundonald Bluebell in second place and Haddington Athletic in eighth. Sauchie are a mere two ahead of the BUs in sixth. Results this week will see movement in these positions a win for Bo’ness finding them further up the table although defeat combined with results elsewhere could have them as low as eighth.

A very difficult game is in prospect and only a good display all round will give Bo’ness the points. The BUs were unfortunate at Tranent in the Football Nation Cup defeat where again poor finishing contributed to their downfall. However the Tranent defence on the day were resolute along with an inspired goalkeeper.

Players always want to do well against their former clubs and this can add to the motivation to get a win, a win being exactly what Bo’ness want.. Compared to the last couple of weeks this is a short journey for the BU Faithful who surely will prefer the excitement of a match at Beechwood compared to any Christmas shopping.
