Bo'ness manager Stuart Hunter spoke to us about Saturday's match against University of Stirling and tonight's The SPFL Trust cup tie vs Rangers B:
A game that went back and forth against Stirling ultimately ended in a defeat late on, what were your views on the 90 minutes?
SH - Very frustrating as we wanted to get off to a positive start, facts are we didnt defend well enough for all three goals and if you give goals like that away then most weeks in this league you won’t take anything from the game. We changed shape midway through the first half and thought we were the better team second half and managed to get it back to 2-2, but you can’t start playing at 2-0 down. To lose it in the last minute when it actually looked like the most likely to team to win would be us is a hard one to take but again we cannot lose those types of goals. Stirling were everything we knew they would be in terms of fit, organised and very good on the ball.
A big positive must be the second half comeback, although it ultimately ended as a loss, it was good to see that heads didn't drop and that they kept working so hard to get back into it?
SH - Yes it was positive and confirms we have that character to fight back into games but unfortunately games start at 3PM and not 4PM so we all know you need to bring that from the kick-off. Ultimately, as I said, if you lose 3 goals in the manner we did you can’t expect to take anything from games but at the end up we were unlucky not to take a point and one over the 90 we maybe deserved. The important thing now for our next game against East Stirling is to bounce back and show the qualities and desire that proved successful last season.
Your side are straight back into action on Tuesday night against Rangers B in the SPFL Trust Trophy, a different type of challenge for the boys to tackle. What are your thoughts on the upcoming game?
SH - I am expecting a very tough evening and expect Rangers to be at full strength. It is a bonus game for the club based on last years success and we can hopefully stifle Rangers and impose ourselves in the game, if we defend as we know we can and put them under pressure in the attacking third then I believe we have enough to get something from the game but we are under no illusions on how difficult the game will be at Cappielow. We will need to be at our best.
