Match Preview 2025 2026
Clydebank
Park’s Motor Group Lowland League
Newtown Park
Tuesday 14 October 2025
After another blank Saturday Bo’ness United face the return fixture against Clydebank as the Bankies make the trip to Newtown Park. The sides met earlier this season, Clydebank scoring two without reply. Bo’ness enjoyed plenty of possession but fell down in the top third of the park. Keir Samson put Clydebank ahead after half an hour and just before the end Nicky Little sealed the win (Report).
Clydebank are toughing it out with Linlithgow Rose at the top of the table, the Bankies equal on points though behind on goal difference. Clydebank are still undefeated in the league and since the BUs visit to Holm Park, Clydebank have won at Gretna 2008, drawn against Hearts B and defeated Albion Rovers. They won at Gala Fairydean Rovers on Saturday. They did go out of the South Challenge Cup losing on penalties at Linlithgow but maintain an interest in the Scottish Cup. disposing of Jeanfield Swifts and now host East Stirlingshire in round two.
Bo’ness appear to have recovered from the run of defeats, drawing at home to Bonnyrigg and winning at Caledonian Braves. The Braves had taken an early lead through former BU Lennon Walker but just before the break the Braves were reduced to ten men and Bo’ness equalised courtesy of Ali El-Zubaidi. The second half proved one way traffic, a Kieran Mitchell brace coming either side of Roan Fitzpatrick and Tom Grant strikes (Report).
The early part of the season saw Bo’ness demonstrate real determination in getting results and that was again on show in their last two matches. This grit will be required once more on Tuesday as Clydebank are formidable opponents keen to maintain their challenge for the Title. The Bo’ness players know they face a tough night and must be at their best to achieve a result. Despite it being a midweek game and the BU Faithful who missed their football fix at the weekend can turn out on Tuesday to match the sizeable Clydebank support likely to be in attendance.

Clydebank 2

Bo’ness United 0
Bo’ness United’s good run ended at Holm Park as they went down to joint Title favourites Clydebank. The result sees the start of a gap between the top two and the rest though Bo’ness still hold onto third in the table.
Clydebank were all over Bo’ness in the first ten minutes but gradually the BUs worked themselves back into things with opportunities at either end. Chris McGowan fired a shot over the Bo’ness bar and at the other end Jamie Watson’s header was just high of the target. Kieran Mitchell then had a good run to the line but Bankies keeper was brave as he got down at Mitchell’s feet to cut off any cut back. Just short of the half hour Clydebank got their noses in front when Keir Samson got onto the end of Aaron Black’s low cross to shoot into the BU net. Just before the break Bo’ness were given a good opportunity with a free kick just outside the box but Tom Grant’s effort went well over.
In the second half Bo’ness worked hard to get back, enjoying a lot of possession
though their play lacked the cutting edge up front. Clydebank continued to look the more threatening and with six minutes remaining sealed the points, Nicky Little firing past BU keeper Ben Fry.
Things don’t get any easier for the BUs as they visit league leaders Linlithgow Rose on Saturday, providing another stiff test for Stuart Hunter’s squad.

Bo’ness United got back to winning ways on a windswept K Park Stadium in a game where just before the break a red card and a BU goal turned the contest on its head. After the initial exchanges Caledonian Braves took the lead, former BU Lennon Walker pouncing onto a poor clearance to run through slipping the ball past Matthew Wallace. Five minutes later Walker had a chance to repeat though this time the BU keeper touched the ball onto the post before clearing. In amongst this Bo’ness had enjoyed plenty of possession without being able to make the breakthrough. However, things changed when just on half time Jack Brown received a second yellow card and from the resulting free kick Ali El-Zubaidi connected with Tom Grant’s cross to see the teams go in level.
Into the second half Bo’ness took the initiative immediately, Kieran Mitchell receiving the ball on the left before turning and shooting into the far top corner of the net and substitute Roan Fitzpatrick latched onto Jamie Watson’s through ball to fire past Braves keeper Bernard White. That was all within the first six minutes of the half and Caley were stunned, unable to make a response. Bo’ness dominated the rest of the contest and with seven minutes remaining Tom Grant curled a great shot into the top corner and Kieran Mitchell bagged his brace heading in at the near post from a Ryan Schiavone cross.
Bo’ness have no game next Saturday but on the following Tuesday night host Clydebank in what is certain to be another stiff test for BU manager Stuart Hunter’s squad.
