Match Preview 2019 2020
Camelon Juniors, Central Taxis East of Scotland League, Premier Division, Carmuirs Park, Saturday 01 February 2020
After a disappointing week Bo’ness United have the opportunity to get back on track as they visit Camelon Juniors to complete two thirds of their East of Scotland League, Premier Division campaign. The BUs lost at home on Saturday to Whitehill Welfare in the league while dropping out of the Football Nation Cup after going down at Bonnyrigg Rose in midweek. Poor finishing was the downfall against Whitehill while Bo’ness lost three goals without reply at Bonnyrigg although they competed better than the score suggests.
This is the return game at Camelon, Bo’ness winning the home match before Christmas. Ryan Stevenson put the BUs ahead in spectacular style only for Alan Docherty to equalise just after the break. With just under thirty minutes remaining Chris Donnelly scored what proved to be the winner for Bo’ness.
Carmuirs Park will have a familiar feel for Bo’ness given it was their ‘home’ ground while the new pitch was being laid at Newtown. In saying that it’s over eighteen months since the BUs faced Camelon on their own patch. That was a late season Super League game where Bo’ness managed a decent win. Calum Scott had Bo’ness ahead at half time with Marc Kelly doubling the lead not long after the break. With five minutes left on the clock Reece Duncan pulled one back for the home side only for Marc Kelly to make sure of the points for Bo’ness just before the end.
Camelon have dropped back to fourth place in the table having been on Bo’ness’s tail for most of the season. After losing at Newtown Park they also went down at Tranent Juniors and Hill of Beath Hawthorn while drawing at home to Dunbar United.
The setback on Saturday proved all teams are capable of winning games in this division and the BUs were once again reminded of that. Camelon want to get themselves back up the table and will provide a stiff test for Bo’ness on Saturday However Bo’ness want to get back to winning ways and ensure the chasing pack is kept at bay so there is a big incentive for the players to perform well at Camelon.
A short trip to Camelon should mean a good turnout from the BU Faithful who, as usual, can do their bit to encourage the team to three points.
