Match Preview 2018 2019
Eyemouth United, Central Taxis East of Scotland League Conference B, Newtown Park, Saturday 16 February 2019
New manager Max Christie was happy with sides performance against Burntisland Shipyard and will be looking for more of the same this weekend as Eyemouth United visit Newtown Park.
An Allan MacKenzie hat trick was the highlight from Saturday with additional goals from Brian Morgan, Ryan Stevenson and Marty Wright giving Bo’ness a straightforward win. Andrew Watt scored a consolation for the Fife side.
Eyemouth have had a miserable season with no points to show for their efforts so far. They have fared no better in cup ties, last week losing thirteen goals without reply at Dundonald Bluebell in a King Cup. When the BUs visited Warner Park they scored eight, three from Marty Wright, two Allan MacKenzie strikes and a goal each from Brian Morgan, Devon Jacobs and Ross Campbell. Eyemouth did get on the score sheet through Jack Burgoyne. This should be a guaranteed three points for Bo’ness but they must buckle down to ensure the job gets done.
Bo’ness are now third in the table and, although Bonnyrigg are out of reach, second place is a realistic goal. In saying that Bo’ness must find a consistency they have not achieved this season so far although the new management team are working to remedy this situation. There are difficult games in the weeks ahead and as usual the vocal backing from the BU Faithful can spur the players on and a place in the top league next season can be realised.
